Mulch Marathon

At Ground Education we believe in the power of mentoring, so we were thrilled to have students from CSULB spearhead a mulching project for the Green Team students at Rogers Middle School.  We’ve been working with middle school students to remove ice plant and replace it with a locally native plant pallet that will support pollinators and wildlife.  With all the plants in the ground, the last step was to thoughtfully cover the 1,500 sf hillside with 3” of mulch to deter weeds and maintain some soil moisture.  Our CSULB team helped us organize the work day and thoughtfully led the students in placing seven yards of mulch around and between the new plants.  The project went smoothly and we all took great pride in a job well done!
