Ground Education Grows Young Minds
Teachers: take a look at our new virtual classroom materials!

See our most recent garden project...

At Ground Education, our mission is to partner with local schools to provide year-round garden and environmental awareness experiences for every student during the school day. We value directly engaging youth in order to:
  • Grow the capacity for wonder
  • Cultivate the space to think, explore, and connect
  • Nurture robust decision-making
... all in the context of the natural world.

Using the school garden as our outdoor classroom, we help bring important grade-level content to life. Our one-hour classes are fun, inspiring, and tasty too!

Our vision is a green, thriving learning garden with a robust curriculum taught by a dedicated educator at every elementary and K-8 school in Long Beach.

Thank you for the wonderful, hands-on lessons you gave to my first graders this year.  I loved watching both the kids and the gardens thrive with your help.

I was so motivated to learn about the garden.  The impact of it was that I've learned how to make strawberry jam, pickle vegetables, and to eat healthy vegetables.

I'm sure that the gardening lessons will stick with them for life and remain some of their fondest memories of elementary school.

We appreciate everything Ground Education has taught our kids, from the lifecycle of a plant to how to make strawberry jam!  Every kid should have the opportunity to get out of the classroom and learn about nature.
