Promoting Sustainability in Schools

Garden and outdoor education programs are a perfect way to introduce broader sustainability concepts to students.  At Ground Education we compost, feed leftovers to worms, and talk about the importance of conserving our natural resources.  Our students enjoy every tasting with real plates, utensils, and napkins.  Our TK-8 curriculum includes important student-led explorations, like:
  • Waste audits
  • Food mile calculations
  • Food access and social justice issues
  • School transportation surveys
  • Zero-waste lunch ideas
  • Earth Day celebrations
  • Native habitat restoration efforts
  • Energy production and usage
